Missouri River Fly Fishing Report
“Be patient, BWOs are near.”
Current Flows: 3,300+
Weather Forecast: Windy, in the 70s, lots of sunshine
Hatch Report: Pseudos, Caddis, October Caddis
Folks, we got an October that feels kind of like a warm July at times. Lots of sunshine, we’re in between hatches but don’t tell that to those die hard fly fisherfolk. I went out on a Friday and I’ve never seen the river so packed with wade fisherfolk! Good for y’all! I mean I couldn’t fish because I couldn’t find enough room on the river but it’s not always about me. We’ve seen a few BWOs but the pseudos have been abundant.
Nymphing: Warrior Perdigon, Psycho May, Blooms Weight Fly, Tailwater Sowbug, Frenchie, Zebra Midge, Hares Ear, Fish Finder Worm, Green Machine, Duracell, Pill Popper
Bugs are showing up in the afternoon. Sleep in, get your morning brunch on and try to hit the river just before lunch.
Dry Flies: Corn Fed Caddis, Hi-Vis Rusty Spinner, Parachute Adams, CDC Caddis, Stimulator, Cluster Midge, Smokejumper Midge, CDC Emerger Baetis, Orange Chubby, Sweet Dreams Hopper
There’s a few to be had. CCFS owner Chris Strainer is getting fish off the dry but he’s like a fly fishing god so he’s always raising the bar.
